A Unique Approach

The Leadership New Hampshire (LNH) program is a uniquely interactive, non-partisan, educational experience, where Associates explore the issues and challenges critical to the state of New Hampshire. This year-long program allows Associates to interact with top state officials, judges, educators, prison inmates, students, artists, corporate leaders and others who receive, deliver or make decisions and policies that affect services in New Hampshire.

Through day-long sessions held throughout the state, carefully selected speakers and thought-provoking action assignments, Associates learn in a hands-on, highly engaged and participatory format about the critical aspects of our state governance and civic sectors including:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Health
  • The Environment
  • Supreme Court
  • Government & Politics
  • Education
  • The North Country
  • MacDowell Colony & the Arts

Our curriculum is continuously and rigorously reviewed to ensure that the program provides an educational experience that is highly relevant to the issues facing New Hampshire communities at any given time.

Program Specifics

LNH's session days take place on weekdays from September through May. Program days run from 8am-5pm, with three overnight sessions. The program begins with an evening reception in June and an overnight retreat in September; participation in the retreat is mandatory.
Associates have action assignments prior to each session, two to six hours in duration, and are expected to outline and track their personal learning goals throughout the year.

To graduate, participants must attend at least 10 session days in their entirety. Candidates should have the support and commitment of their employers. Due to space and insurance considerations, participants may not bring dependents to the program sessions.

Nomination and Selection

Individuals may nominate themselves or may be nominated by another person by filling out a Nomination Form. A nomination is not mandatory.

Each class will consist of 38 diverse Associates. After assessment from the interviewer teams, all applicants will be reviewed by the selection committee; the names of those selected will then be submitted to the LNH Board of Trustees for approval. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by the end of May.

Tuition and Scholarships

Tuition for the year-long program is $3,750. The cost covers lectures and meals associated with each program day, as well as
overnight accommodations at the retreat. Additional costs include required reading materials and lodging costs for the other
overnight sessions. Applications are available for Financial Aid, upon request, after acceptance into the program. Please see
