LNH Action Assignment - Education

For this month's Action Assignment, we are asking you to consider the goals for the session and explore the resources listed as well as others of your choosing.  We will spend a portion of our Education Program Day at Stevens High School in Claremont, NH.  You will be talking with students and a variety of leaders in education.

PROGRAM GOALS

- To focus on public education in NH and give each associate the opportunity to experience and discuss the current situation in a single school system. 

- To enable associates to gain a better understanding of the framework for the delivery of public education in the state.

- To understand how the current system meets or does not meet the needs of all students and the personal responsibility of NH citizens to support the educational system.

- To consider your current involvement in education and explore the possibilities for future involvement and leadership

ASSIGNMENT

NH Dept. of Education - go the their website www.ed.state.NH.us/education/ - browse the state to get a sense of what the state is doing.

Claremont Schools - go to their website www. claremont.k12.nh.us - familiarize yourself with the district.

NH School Profiles - click on this site to see NH's school profiles:  demographic, assessment and financial data for every district.  Look at your community's data as it compare to other communities.  Be sure to review the profiles for the Claremont schools.  http://www.measuredprogress.org/nhprofile/

NH School Funding - surfers will find reports written by the Center for Public Policy Studies on their website, www.nhpolicy.org.  From their homepage, in the right hand column, click on "education".  Read the reports of interest to you.
